Why ad hoc recognition stops working
Bonuses promised in a hallway get forgotten. When nobody tracks who earned what, drivers stop believing it matters, and the drivers who carry the hardest days feel invisible. A program on the record fixes the trust problem before it fixes anything else.
The building blocks
A workable program needs only a few parts:
- Points or cash awarded with a note saying what each award was for.
- A leaderboard by week, month or quarter, so recognition is visible.
- A prize shelf priced in points: gift cards, time off, team gear or anything else you choose.
- An approval step, so nothing goes out until a manager says yes.
- A place on the driver's phone to see their points, cash and the prize shelf.
Reward the behavior you want more of
Tie awards to things drivers control and you can verify: covering a hard route, a rescue, a clean week, a helpful hand-off. Write the reason on every award. Over time the notes become a record of what good work looks like at your station.
Keep spending visible
Owners should be able to see, at a glance, requests waiting for approval, points available to spend, cash given in the last 30 days and prizes on the shelf. FLO's Rewards page shows exactly those numbers.
